Nestled in the village of Montagnac in the heart of Languedoc, the estate encompasses 63 hectares of vineyards, wheat fields, ancient olive groves, and woodland, with sweeping views over the Gulf of Lion and the Étang de Thau. A pale stone manor house sits at the centre of it all, a veritable haven of absolute peace and tranquillity, embodying the laid-back Mediterranean charm and subtle elegance that defines the region.
The history of Domaine de la Clapière runs deep. The site dates to the Gallo-Roman era, set along the Via Domitia, the ancient Roman road connecting Italy and Spain, and later became a stop for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. The estate took its name in the 17th century under the stewardship of merchant François Clapier. Today its cellars still house wooden vats from 1850, and an ornate fireplace in the manor recalls the earliest chapters of its story.
Since 2006, Sophie and Xavier Palatsi have cared for the property with devotion, balancing its rich heritage with a forward-looking vision that makes Domaine de la Clapière one of the most singular private event venues in the South of France.
